YOUNGSTERS at a primary school near Ruthin have been busy designing their own chocolates.

Year three and four pupils at the town's Ysgol Gellifor School have been studying chocolate as their topic for the current term.

The pupils have been investigating different ways of making Willy Wonka style chocolate before going on to have a go themselves using different ingredients.

They were even given the opportunity to create their own colourful packaging to wrap around their finished products - which were then judged by Annie Bryan from the Denbigh Chocolate Shop.

Ysgol Gellifor assistant headteacher Mandy Brookes-Jones said: "The pupils really put a lot of effort into creating their chocolates and the judge was really impressed by them.

"So much so in fact, that they have asked them to create more of their designs so that they can be sold at the shop in the coming weeks."

Amelia Shenton and Darcy Jones both received a chocolate mobile phone as a reward for creating the best chocolates. All the other children were handed gift bags from the Denbigh Chocolate Shop.

The next topic to be covered by the pupils is 'Robots'.
