A HORSE-RIDER who passed through Chirk as part of a charity challenge has expressed her gratitude to people for their support.

Bethan Matthews passed through Chirk last weekend as part of her challenge to ride 1,500km around Wales.

The 24-year-old is taking on the ride in aid of two charities – Blind Veterans UK and Communities for Horses.

Bethan has been very thankful to those turning out to support her around the country.

She said: “It’s been really good so far.

“I’ve met so many nice people so far and travelling around the country I’ve been able to see some beautiful views.

“With the challenge being in June, I was worried about it being too hot, but obviously that hasn’t been the case.

“I can’t really complain though as it has been much cooler, and we haven’t had to change our course.

“It has been great to receive such a good amount of support on my way around the country.

“People have been catching up with me on the way and people have been stopping to find out more about what’s going on.

“I’ve met some lovely people.

“We’ve had some donations from people along the way too which has been really nice.

“I’d like to extend a big thank you to everybody that has come out to show their support. It’s been a great morale boost and helped me out a lot.

“Seeing the support makes it even more worthwhile.”

Bethan’s challenge is set to continue until June 29.
