TASTY offerings were not the only thing that came from an afternoon tea.

The recent Ruthin and Denbigh Friends of Tenovus Cancer Care afternoon tea raised more than £1,800.

It was held at The Laundry, Llanrhaeadr to raise vital funds for Tenovus Cancer Care, Wales’ leading cancer charity.

Tenovus Cancer Care brings treatment, emotional support and practical advice to where it matters most - the heart of the community.

It helps cancer patients and their loved ones cope, and through its vital research, it offers hope.

The group is thrilled that the event was such a success.

Organiser Menna Williams said: “We are so thrilled at the amount raised in one afternoon.

"The support was absolutely brilliant.

"We would like to say a big thank-you to all who attended.”

Debbie Rowley, Tenovus Cancer Care's regional fundraising manager for North Wales, was delighted the afternoon tea was such a success.

“I’m so pleased and so grateful for all of the group’s hard work organising such a lovely event in the community, and we are all blown away by the £1,815.70 raised during the afternoon event," she told the group.

"I can’t thank the group enough for all of their hard work within the community to help raise funds and awareness for the charity.

"The group supports Tenovus Cancer Care throughout the year by organising activities, and they work so hard to support.”

The event was possible due to the kindness of Jenny and Tom Williams, who invited the group to go along, and use their beautiful gardens to host the afternoon tea.

Another special thank-you goes to the Pleasant Pluckers Ukulele Group, who entertained the supporters on the day.

Friends of Tenovus Cancer Care are groups of supporters who come together to help raise funds and awareness of the charity.
