A MAN was taken to hospital after sustaining a shoulder injury during a one-vehicle smash near St Asaph.

Glascoed Road, near the crematorium between St Asaph Business Park and Engine Hill was sealed off while emergency services attended the scene shortly after 10.15 this morning.

Firefighters, from Rhyl and Denbigh, using cutting equipment freed one casualty who was taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.

A North Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "We were called to a one vehicle RTC in which the vehicle had left the road and was on its side in a field.

"Two fire appliances attended, one from Denbigh and one from Rhyl, with cutting equipment.

"They removed the roof of the vehicle to get to the man, who was taken to hospital with a shoulder injury."

The road was temporarily closed with police advising motorist to use an alternative route.
