A SPECIAL event this weekend will mark a major anniversary for a Vale of Clwyd sporting club.

Henllan Football Club will be marking their 90th anniversary with a celebration event this Saturday, July 6.

This event will be held at Henllan Church Institute, starting at 7pm.

It took Henllan only four years to win their first Summer League title, which they achieved in 1933.

Since then, the successful club has won the championship on eight further occasions, including back-to-back titles in 2016 and 2017.

Henllan have won the Shield on five occasions, the most recent being in 2017, which secured their first ever double.

The guest speaker on the night will be former Welsh international Malcolm Allen.

A former striker with Newcastle United, Watford and Millwall, Allen represented Wales on 14 occasions, scoring three times.

He is now a pundit and commentator for S4C's Sgorio show.

Comedian Dilwyn Pierce will be the MC for the occasion, while musical entertainment will be provided by Luke.

The event will also include hot food, a bar and a presentation.

Tickets are available from Henllan Shop and the Llindir Inn.

All are welcome to attend the celebration.
