THE Bishop of St Asaph is now on sabbatical.
The Rt Revd Gregory Cameron will be on leave until November. The bishop, who will turn 60 this year, has been in his post for 10 years.
He will not be accepting engagements in the diocese, other than the Diocesan Conference in October.
During the four-month break, the Dean of St Asaph Cathedral, the Very Reverend Nigel Williams, will become the senior priest in the Diocese.
He, along with the Archdeacons who share the bishop’s oversight, will carry out diocesan duties. Tasks specific to the role of Bishop will take place either before his sabbatical or on his return in November.
A spokesperson from the diocese of St Asaph tweeted: "Wishing our bishop a restful, restorative and refreshing sabbatical."
It is thought the bishop will spend his break with his family and studying, possibly in a theological college overseas.
