IT'S been a busy times for members of Denbigh Dragons Swimming Club.

Swimmers from Denbigh put on a good show recently as they took part in the annual Denbigh Carnival.

Showcasing their new kit, the Dragons strode through the town, resplendent with medals and trophies, to spread the word and celebrate the great work that has been going on in the pool.

The Denbigh team had plenty to celebrate, having competed in the Cath Ankers memorial meet in Wrexham just the week before.

The Dragons put in a number of fantastic performances, coming away with 33 medals, 71 personal bests and four speeding tickets - times too fast to register even for gold medals!

Most importantly, this was a great team bonding opportunity, and the Wrexham Waterworld pool was full of smiles and laughter as the various Denbigh Dragons squads came together for some thrilling racing and exciting competition.

On June 23, Denbigh Leisure Centre played host to the first ever club summer championships splash and dash gala.

Team members from as young as six entered debut races, and seniors as old as 18 displayed their speed and skill to compete in this inaugural summer club competition.

There were some excellent performances and some keenly fought races throughout the afternoon, as the juniors got the chance to sample competition, and the seniors got to take on their friends and team mates.

Finally, for this month, swimmers, parents and coaches old and new met at Clwb Rygbi Dinbych for the annual summer party and summer Championships presentation ceremony and prize giving.

Swimmers were recognised for their achievements over the past year. Head coach Justin Jones gave a presentation detailing just how far the club has come in the last 12 months, with overall medal attainment having increased to 466 compared to 146 last year.

Meanwhile, the number of swimmers having achieved personal bests, and regional and national finals qualification has rocketed.

It's certain that Denbigh Dragons is a club with a bright future.
