HUNDREDS of people lined the streets to witness the Eisteddfod’s Parade of Nations.
Each year, the colour and excitement of the Eisteddfod spreads into the streets of Llangollen town, and this year was no different, with crowds gathered across the entire of Castle Street, with barely an inch of the pavement not occupied.
Over 800 people took part in the parade, with nations such as India, USA, Canada and, of course, Wales being represented.
The participants paraded right the way through the town, some stopping to take part in a dance or song, as the crowd showered them in applause and cheers in the boiling sun.
The first International Musical Eisteddfod was held in Llangollen in June 1947. In the following 70 years its celebration of “Peace and Harmony” has made it one of the world’s great music festivals.
The international music festival is set to culminate this Sunday, July 7, and this was a great way to come into the final days.
