A MUSICAL and cultural journey through the streets, cafes and terraces of Europe.

That's what's on offer for theatre-goers in the Vale of Clwyd later this month.

The Andy Lawrenson Trio will be performing Le Cafe Parisien at Denbigh's Theatr Twm o'r Nant on Saturday, July 20 (7.30pm).

Le Cafe Parisien is a musical and cultural journey through the streets, cafes and terraces of Europe.

Expect to hear Hot Club Swing, classical themes, adventures into Romani and Celtic music, and vintage songs, all delivered with a fresh new twist.

It is a veritable melting pot of astounding musicianship and novel arrangements, all delivered with a sense of warmth and fun to make for a cracking night’s entertainment.

Andy Lawrenson learned to play the violin through busking on the streets of Europe, Scandinavia, England, Scotland and Ireland, before returning to the University of Northumbria to complete a music degree in the mid 1980s.

He was a prominent figure on the North East folk and jazz scene, working with Ian Carr, Keith Morris, Elvis Costello, Richard Thompson and the North East folk music agency Folkworks amongst others.

The Andy Lawrenson Trio has been working together since around 2012.

Andy now manages and gigs extensively with the trio, runs music workshops and teaches violin and guitar in north Yorkshire.

Tickets are priced at £10.
