HARDY Harriers have been hitting the heights at a major event.

Saturday saw the 44th International Snowdon Race being held in Llanberis.

A total of five Denbigh Harriers were there to take on the iconic race up and down Snowdon, which is considered as one of the greatest in the world of mountain running.

The race attracts some of the best racers in Europe.

Covering nine-and-a-half miles and climbing over 3,000 feet, the descent often causes fall and injuries, and requires concentration the whole way down.

All of the Harriers got up and down the course without falling and there was a personal best for Elen Baugh by two minutes.

Newcomers to the race were Luke Hughes, Huw Williams and Mari Williams, and they all bettered their practice times on by a large margin.

Meanwhile, David Baugh ran his race four minutes faster than last year.

Harriers' results: 193, David Baugh 1-37.23; 322, Huw Williams 1-48.32; 399, Mari Williams 1-55.03; 427, Luke Hughes 1-57.26; 443, Elen Baugh 1-59.24.

On Sunday, two Denbigh Harriers ran the Windmill Half Marathon in Lytham St Annes.

Race day gave them pleasant and warm weather with a head wind.

Hywel Roberts and Ian Jones decided to run the race together and just enjoy it.

It was a two-lap course along the seafront and it was flat.

Hywel Roberts finished in 1-59.27 and Ian Jones crossed the line in 1-59.37.

Ian was happy with this time as this was his 11th half marathon in 11 months.
