TWO people have been taken to hospital following a collision between pedestrians and a HGV in Wrexham town centre on Tuesday morning.

North Wales Police confirmed the incident happened just before 9.20am on Regent Street, close to the junction with Bradley Road, with the Welsh Ambulance Services adding that two patients were taken to Wrexham Maelor hospital.

A spokesman for the North Wales Police said: "We were called at 9.19am to reports of a female pedestrian being involved in a collision with a HGV.

"The Ambulance Service are in attendance but I am not able to confirm the extent of her injuries."

A spokesman for Welsh Ambulance said: "We were called on Tuesday, July 23 at approximately 09:18am to reports of a road traffic accident involving pedestrians and a single vehicle in central Wrexham.

"We responded with one rapid response vehicle and one ambulance. Two patients were transported by road ambulance to Maelor General Hospital, Wrexham."

The incident involved the temporary closure of Bradley Road at the junction with Regent Street, while the emergency services deal with the matter.
