POLICE have urged motorists to "take extra care" as traffic in Denbighshire continues to increase into August.
North Wales Police's road policing unit said that hot weather and the school summer holidays are likely to result in busier roads and a higher risk of crashes across North Wales.
Families will be travelling to the green hilly region for camping and cycling trips, coach visits and weekends away, while many will be heading in the opposite direction to visit other parts of the UK and abroad.
Breakdowns are also more likely to occur in hot weather due to overheated engines, fuel evaporation and tyre blowouts.
North Wales Police's Operation Darwen runs throughout the summer, in which officers patrol popular recreational driving and speeding prone routes
A spokesperson for the roads policing unit said: "With hot weather predicted we continue to urge all motorists to take extra care whilst out on the roads.
"With schools now closed we're expecting heavier than usual traffic across North Wales.
"We're on duty, so please drive and ride safely and respect all road users."
