A MAN appeared in court today (Tuesday) charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice in connection with a crossbow murder and involving a burned out Land Rover.

There was no bail application and Gavin Jones, 36, of Bryngwran, Anglesey, was remanded in custody by magistrates at Caernarfon in Gwynedd. He will appear before the town’s crown court on August 27.

The charge alleges conspiracy relating to arson of a Land Rover Discovery – an offence which can only be tried in the crown court. Defence solicitor Deborah Davies did not seek bail.

Diane Williams, prosecuting, explained that the case is linked to the murder of Gerald Corrigan, 74. Mr Corrigan, a retired college lecturer in photography, died from his injuries on May 11 after being shot in the chest with a crossbow outside his remote home near Holyhead on Good Friday while adjusting his satellite tv dish.

Terence Whall, 38, of Bryngwran, has been charged with his murder and a crown court judge has adjourned his case until September.

Det Chief Insp Brian Kearney, who leads the murder probe, said : “I continue to appeal to members of our community to come forward and help us with this investigation. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have assisted the inquiry to date.”
