MEMBERS of Wales YFC travelled from all corners of Wales to take part in the first day of YFC competitions at the Royal Welsh Show. This year, the organisation’s theme is nursery rhymes.

It was an action packed day, with competitions ranging from flower arranging to a children’s entertainment show.

“We’ve had a fun filled first day here, making all of the hard work prior to the show worthwhile,” said Wales YFC chairman Dafydd Jones.

“Members from all 12 counties have gathered here today and shown their various talents, and I look forward to seeing more of the members over the next three days.”

Meirionnydd's Huw Jones was the runner-up in the individual U-21 sheep shearing competition, while Meirionnydd colleague Alun Hedd was second in the U-26 event.

There was glory for Meirionnydd, who won the team sheep shearing section.

Turning to flower arranging and Clwyd's Elen Elizabeth Jones was the runner-up.
