A MORRIS dancing troupe is on the hunt for a new home.

Harmony Sparkles Morris Dance troupe have been training for the last three years at Rhyl Adventure Playground.

Their contract has now been terminated and 30 plus children have been left without a venue to train.

Last month, it was the girls’ first night training without a home. A meet up had to take place on a grass patch outside one of the committee members houses on Gwynfryn Avenue, Rhyl.

A committee member connected with Harmony Sparkles, who asked not to be named, said: “We won’t be able to train here on a regular basis as it does not give the children stability and offer dry and safe environment in the winter months.

“Finding a new venue is important. The group offers a safe and non threatening environment for all children and gets them off the streets. Having a consistent and regular venue ensures we have stability for all involved.

“We have some children who struggle with change and routine.

"Not having a set venue for the children to attend has had an impact on their wellbeing and routine and left the whole troupe in limbo not knowing our whereabouts week in week out.”

Rhyl Journal:

It is understood that the contract - with Rhyl Adventure Playground - was terminated due to illness.

“The children were shocked and very upset to hear the bad news,” the committee member added.

“It sent sheer panic amongst the troupe as the children were devastated to think there was no longer going to be a troupe.”

“We have been a troupe for three years, we built it up from nothing after a breakaway from another troupe.

“Nobody knew if it would success and with no money, it didn’t half throw some challenges our way, but as a committee and parents we were all determined to make it work and give back to the community."

The group train from 4.30pm to 8pm every Tuesday.

The committee member said: “Harmony Sparkles is more than just a dance troupe. It has become family. All children have grown in confidence and developed positive relationships."

The dancers are looking for a venue that is big enough to hold their large troupe and also has a kitchen.

"Lunches are prepared weekly for the dancers as some are there longer than others," the spokesperson added.
