IT was celebration time for Bala students when they picked up their A-level results.

Year 13 pupils at Ysgol y Berwyn celebrated their success on Thursday following excellent results.

Headteacher Andrew Roberts said: “The staff and teachers have worked very hard and as a result every year 13 pupil has been offered a place at their first choice of university.

"Several pupils have gained straight As, with one gaining straight A stars.

"I would like to thank the staff for their teaching and wish the young people all the best for their futures.”

Gwynedd Council has congratulated the county’s pupils on their results.

Cllr Cemlyn Rees Williams, Gwynedd Council's cabinet member for education, said: “We should be proud of the success of our young people.

"The students are to be congratulated for their dedication and perseverance and I offer my sincere gratitude to the teachers for their hard work during the year and for preparing students so thoroughly for the examinations.

“I would like to wish our young people all the best as they take the next steps in their careers.”

Garem Jackson, head of education for Gwynedd Council, stated that he was extremely pleased with the A-level results of students in Gwynedd secondary schools.

He noted: “Once again this year, it’s a pleasure to state how pleased I am with the results in Gwynedd schools.

"The students and their teachers are to be congratulated warmly on their success.

“I would like to thank the schools and the teachers most sincerely for their hard work and professionalism, the students for their exceptional efforts and their families for their constant support.”

Garem Jackson drew attention to outstanding performance in individual subjects.

“Although the numbers sitting examinations vary substantially across subjects, it is pleasing to note that the results are very good in Welsh, physics, mathematics, further mathematics, biology, English Literature, and art and design.

“The Skills Challenge Certificate (Welsh Baccalaureate) was introduced in September 2015 and is equivalent to an A level.

"It is pleasing to see candidates’ success in achieving the qualification.”

The head of education also referred to the students’ success in the Advanced Subsidiary examinations and wished them all the very best in their A levels next year.
