STAFF and pupils at Llanidloes High School are exceptionally pleased with results this year.

Headteacher, Daniel Owen, said: “We are absolutely delighted with our students’ splendid results this year and warmly congratulate them on their success.

“It is an extraordinary achievement that over 40 per cent of students studying three or more A-levels achieved two or more A*-A grades. Indeed, nearly a third of all grades are A*-A or equivalent and well over half of all grades are A*-B. The results serve as a reminder of the world class teaching at Llanidloes High School and are an exceptional testimony to students’ hard work.

“We are equally delighted that nearly every single student at Llanidloes applying for Higher Education gained a place in his or her first-choice university, which is outstanding.

“We are naturally delighted to be in The Times top 10 Sixth Forms in Wales for two successive years based on the exceptional results of our students. We certainly hope to remain there for a third consecutive year.

“I would like to thank all of the students for their exceptional hard work and for being such exemplary role models for our younger pupils. We wish you well as you move onto pastures new and look forward to seeing you pop in with regular updates on how you’re getting on.

“I would also like to thank teachers and staff for supporting students so effectively over the last two years, enabling them to achieve such a strong set of results.”

Mr Owen added: “Our A-level results serve as a reminder of why local sixth form education is overwhelmingly the most popular post-16 choice of students and parents in Llanidloes. Governors, staff and students trust that the Local Authority will ensure that any proposal to transform post-16 education takes into account this clear preference for local sixth form education in Llanidloes where academic standards are exceptional, students deeply value the teaching and where pastoral care is second to none.”
