A VALE of Clwyd group has raised an astonishing £200,000 in aid of a worthy cause.

Ruthin and Denbigh Friends of Tenovus Cancer Care recently celebrated 30 years of raising vital funds for Tenovus Cancer Care, Wales’ leading cancer charity.

Tenovus Cancer Care brings treatment, emotional support and practical advice to where it matters most; the heart of the community.

It helps cancer patients and their loved ones cope, and through its vital research, it offers hope.

Ruthin and Denbigh Friends of Tenovus Cancer Care chair Joan Beesley said: “It has been a pleasure to be the chair of the Ruthin and Denbigh Group for the last 30 years.

"I would like to thank the group for all their hard work and dedication over the years, contributing to the amazing total of £207,000.

"This wouldn’t be possible without the groups support, and the support of so many in our local community. Thank you to you all for your help in raising funds for Tenovus Cancer Care.”

Debbie Rowley, regional fundraising manager North Wales at Tenovus Cancer Care, was delighted to celebrate with the Ruthin and Denbigh Friends of Tenovus Cancer Care.

“We’re so pleased and so grateful for all of the group’s hard work and dedication over an incredible 30 years," she said.

"Two of the members are from the original group started in 1989, and over the years they have received tremendous support from new members, and their community.

"I'm always blown away by the support they receive at their events, recently they held an afternoon tea and raised an incredible £1,800.

"We can’t thank the group enough for all of their hard work within the community to help raise funds and awareness for the charity, and the incredible £207,000 donated in their time raising funds for Tenovus Cancer Care.

"Tenovus Cancer Care couldn’t provide the support they do to cancer patients and their loved ones without the support of volunteer groups, volunteers, fundraisers and supporters in the North Wales area.”

Friends of Tenovus Cancer Care are groups of supporters who come together to help raise funds and awareness of the charity.
