FOUR more people were taken to hospital following a second crash on the eastbound carriageway of the A55 near Abergwyngregyn.

The multi-vehicle accident was in the same area where a car had overturned just hours earlier resulting in three people being hospitalised.

The second incident involved four vehicles at around 11.18am, Wednesday, and caused severe traffic delays.

It followed a single vehicle incident which also caused long delays, when it happened at 8.32am, during the commuter rush hour.

A spokesperson for the North Wales Ambulance service said:

“We were called on Wednesday, August 21, at approximately 11:18 am to reports of a road traffic collision involving four vehicles on the A55 near Abergwyngregyn.

"We responded with two emergency ambulances. Four patients were transported to Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital, Bangor.”

In the first accident three people were taken to hospital, one by road to Ysbyty Gwynedd, and two patients were airlifted to Liverpool's Alder Hey Hospital.

Regarding the first incident the spokesperson said: “We were called on Wednesday, August 21, at approximately 8:32 am to reports of a road traffic accident involving a single vehicle on the A55 near Abergwyngregyn.

"We responded with two emergency ambulances and our crew was supported by the Wales Air Ambulance. One patient was transported by road ambulance to Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital, Bangor and two patients transported by air ambulance to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool."
