A NEW season brings new challenges and after two months of pre-season, finally the Lakesiders have now begun the 2019/20 campaign.

Seven new faces have arrived at Maes Tegid as we re-build in our mission to finish as high as possible in the table and qualify for European football next June.

In the season opener in the Nathaniel MG League Cup, Town demolished Gresford Athletic 7-0 and will now face Conwy, Bangor or The New Saints in round three next month.

Our first game in the newly named JD Cymru Premier saw Town win 2-1 against Airbus but it’s going to be a difficult couple of games with last season’s top three coming up for the Lakesiders.

During this period, manager Colin Caton will be celebrating his 650th game with the Lakesiders which is a massive achievement and makes him one of the longest serving managers in the UK.

Saving the environment is a hot topic at the moment and Town are doing our bit to cut down our paper usage by making our matchday programmes digital and available to view online.

So far, the feedback has been great and views are up 500 per cent compared to the normal printed copies.

Over the summer, the club reformed its reserve side, who play in the Wrexham Area Reserves and Colts Division and they are already sixth in the table after three games.

Manager Adam Galdo is building a strong, youthful local squad at Maes Tegid and it’s fantastic to see all the support that are coming to watch them.

In the Academy, pre-season has just ended and we have all our new players signed up for the forthcoming season.

Games have just been revealed for our U-12, 14, 16 and 19 age groups, which will get underway at the start of September.

Hopes are high that they will be challenging for spaces in the Super Six especially after the success of the U-14s last season.

Bala Town in the Community is busy preparing for the new school terms, with numerous sessions organised in our local schools already. Over the past five weeks, our over-35 sessions on a Thursday have been a huge success

In partnership with the FAW Trust, the club is running four weeks of free football sessions at Maes Tegid.

Our brand new sessions are an introduction to football for any boys and girls aged between 7-11 years old.

On September 25, and October 2, 9 and 16 (5-6pm) we have 20 spaces up for grabs.

Head to the FAW Trust website, looking for ‘Fun Football', and register your child under the Bala Town sessions.

We have also added two more holiday camps on September 2 and 3 for children aged 5-11 years old, from 10am until 3pm.

Contact community@balatownfc.co.uk to register your child.
