INSTALLATION of new floodlights on an artificial playing surface in Wrexham has been completed.
Wrexham Council have announced via their website that the lighting has been fully installed at Ysgol Clywedog, on Ruthin Road and the pitch is now available for booking.
A statement on the council website says:“A while back, we put out the news that new floodlighting columns were being installed on the all-weather pitch at Ysgol Clywedog, on Ruthin Road.
“Now, we’ve got some even better news – they’re finished!
“This means the pitch will now be able to host evening games and training alike – even after the autumn nights start to draw in.
“We’re now taking bookings for any floodlit training and matches starting from September 1.
“For those clubs who are further afield, bookings are also available for the floodlit 3G pitches at Chirk, Morgan Llwyd and Queensway.”
Cllr Andrew Atkinson, Lead Member for Youth Services and Anti-Poverty, with responsibility for Leisure, said: “While it may seem a little early for us to be promoting floodlit football, a number of bookings have already been taken for floodlit matches and training on the all-weather pitch at Ysgol Clywedog, and we know demand is only likely to go up as the autumn nears.
“The new floodlights are now in place, so clubs and sporting groups would be well-advised to get their bookings in now.”
