POLICE are investigating a fire that happened over the weekend at an agricultural building in Ruabon.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service received a call just before 5.40pm on Sunday reporting a barn blaze on Maes y Llan lane in the village.

Two crews attended the scene and were able to bring the blaze under control by around 7.30pm.

However, the Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed that they believe the building was intentionally ignited, and North Wales Police have confirmed they are treating the incident as arson.

A spokesman for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Wrexham and Johnstown attended and used a hose reel and breathing apparatus to tackle the fire, which was controlled by 7.23pm.

“The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate ignition at this current stage,” they added.

A spokesman for North Wales Police said: “A fire in Maes y Llan lane, Ruabon, is being treated as arson (ref X128031).”
