A POPULAR village show took a step back in time over the weekend.

Llandrillo Show once again attracted a large number of entries and visitors for its 2019 version.

Show secretary Brenda Owen said: "It was very good and Cynwyd School sent all sorts of wonderful exhibitions.

"One of the themes was the 1960s, so there was a yellow submarine!"

As well as those competing from the village, there were also competitors from the larger area, including Bala.

Angharad Jones, of Ffynnon Ddu, Cyffylliog opened the show and she was presented with a bouquet of flowers by Begw Meirion.

The show is organised by Llandrillo Gardening Club, but it caters for more than just green fingered enthusiasts.

"There's handicrafts, painting and photography as well as produce," added Brenda.

A total of 16 volunteers made sure that everything went well on the day.

"We were very, very happy with the number of entries and the standard was very high," said Brenda.

Among the winners on the day was Brenda herself, who triumphed in the two recycled items for garden use competition.

Sheila Cox was also victorious with her vase of flowers, while the winner of the contest for any fruit or vegetable not in the schedule was Dion Edwards.

Emma Newport was another winner with her lemon drizzle cake and Beca Roberts was successful in the two individual desserts in a glass dish contest.

Show organisers wish to thank the committee, competitors, Ysgol Bro Dyfrdwy and all of the supporters.
