POLICE have launched an appeal to trace the Good Samaritans who assisted at the scene of a crash in which a pensioner was killed.

Margaret Jones, 87, was walking just a few hundred yards from her home when she was struck by a car on Castle Street in Llangollen on Thursday, August 15.

North Wales Police, the Welsh Ambulance Service and North Wales Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene at about 9.40am. The pensioner, who had sustained head injuries, was airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital where she later died.

However a man and woman were first on scene and assisted in First Aid, and police believe the couple could have vital evidence for its ongoing investigation into the incident.

PC Emma Birrell, from the Roads Policing Unit, said: “We are looking to identify both witnesses who may be able to assist with our ongoing investigation.

“They may have been on a day trip or on holiday in the area so we are looking for help to try and identify them. Please contact us if you can assist.”
