EMMA Collins was the only Denbigh Harrier who raced the Trailffest half marathon on Saturday.

It was very scenic and extremely hot, making it a tough race that required perseverance.

The Ffestiniog steam train transported runners and spectators in style to the start of the race at Tanygisiau, giving plenty of time to enjoy the views and spot sections of the race route.

Emma finished as the fifth lady overall and the first V50 in a field of 140.

Her time was 2-08.26.

There were five Denbigh Harriers competing in the Llyn Alwen trail and canicross race over 11.5k.

While it started out in dry weather, it did eventually turn out to be a wet race for all concerned.

Fred Jones led the Harriers home despite being the oldest club member competing on the day, with Carys Davies not far behind and relishing the hills.

Ruth Crowther, Dawn Marshall and John Llewelyn Thomas had great runs on this challenging course, with Ruth and John both having run a parkrun the day before.

Three Harriers - Roger Snaith, Katy Baugh and Stacey Hughes - also supported the race by marshalling and sweeping.

Harriers' results: 30, Fred Jones 55.20; 41, Carys Davies 59.45; 79, Ruth Crowther 1-12.00; 102, Dawn Marshall 1-18.57; 109, John Llewelyn Thomas 1-21.56.

Further afield in Australia, Caroline and Rob Parry raced the Logan half-marathon in very hot and humid conditions.

Both of them were happy with their times.

Robert Parry crossed the line in 2-18.24 and Caroline completed the race in a time of 2-44.03.
