THREE Denbigh Harriers' women made their mark on the Clwydian hills in the Moel y Plas race.

This 4.8-mile race sets off from Graigfechan and climbs steeply for over 1,000 feet up to the summit of Moel y Plas.

The descent is then a joyful dash in the dark!

In-form Rhian Pierce battled with another female on the ascent, but her fast and skilful descent gained her sixth position overall out of 27 runners and the first female in an impressive time of 42 minutes and 22 seconds.

Katy Baugh had a storming run and she was the third female and 10th overall in 45.12.

Menai Baugh, thoroughly enjoying being back on the hills, finished 19th overall and the fifth female in 51.36.

Victoria Whitehead competed in the EnduranceLife 15-mile trail race on the North York Moors.

This was a tough route, with 2,000 feet of climbing, but with stunning views along the east coast, starting in Ravenscar.

The recent rain made some of the paths very muddy and slippery, but the rain held off for the race and it was sunny.

There was a good variety of terrain, with the coastal path to Robin Hood's Bay, a beach section, fields, paths and plenty of mud! Fantastic support along the route from Jon Whitehead helped as Victoria had to dig deep in the final few miles uphill across open moorland.

She was pleased to be the 13th lady overall and the first female vet in a time of 2-39.
