Denbigh Dragons

THE new swimming season is well up and running for the Denbigh Dragons following the Holywell Swimming Club invitational meet at the end of September.

It was a great opportunity for Denbigh Dragons’ up and coming swimmers to show their mettle, with swimmers competing from the age of eight.

The Dragons achieved a great team success, with a fantastic medal haul and numerous personal best times achieved.

Of 25 swimmers in 129 events, 70 per cent achieved medal success.

This consisted of a massive 40 gold medals, 34 silver and 17 bronze – a real confidence boost for these young swimmers and motivation for the year ahead.

In the top boy and girl competitions, where points are accumulated from each race result and compiled at the end of the day, there was individual success for Iestyn Roberts in the eight year old boy category, Ewan Leonard (10 year old boys) and Arthur Jones in the 11 year old category.

Phoebe Derbyshire was top of the nine year old girls.

These fantastic results led Denbigh to an impressive finish, second only to the host team.

It was another great gala and a chance for these Dragon hatchlings to shine.
