A BRILLIANT total in excess of £3,000 was raised by a football fundraiser.
Over the summer, the Trefnant FC charity football match took place for the second year in a row.
Event organisers Martin Fearnley, John Roberts and Nathan Pope can confirm that the final total raised for the Children in Cancer Charity is a total of £3,200, which was £800 up on last year's total.
In a joint statement, the trio said: "(We) would like to personally thank all the players, supporters and sponsors involved who turned up on the day and helped us reach our total.
"Thanks go to referees Ron and Arwyn who managed JUST not to book anyone, Pete and Dave for marking the pitch and to Roy, Caroline and Alison for the photographs.
"A special thanks go to Trefnant Village Hall for hosting the event; the Trefnant Inn for providing the after match refreshments; Diane, Mandi, Tina and Ella for helping in the kitchen, making cakes, raffle, bingo, etc; Disco Dave; Ella and friends from Stagecoach and local band the Ultraviolets for providing a varied and great night of entertainment, and finally Stacey and David for guess the name of the bear."
The date of next year's event will be June 27.
