TALENTED swimmers have made a big splash once again!

The Denbighshire Development Team (DDT) met earlier this month to contest the inter-towns gala.

The four Denbighshire clubs which make up the DDT - Ruthin Rays, Denbigh Dragons, Corwen Sharks and Rhyl Dolphins - come together to compete regularly throughout the year.

Swimmers from each club face off in a series of exciting individual races and thrilling relays.

Tension, competitive spirit and friendly rivalry escalate throughout the events, culminating in the canon, where eight swimmers of varying ages from each team race in a relay, the winner being the first team to get their final swimmer across the line.

This round was organised by Ruthin Rays swimming club and it took place on October 13 at the recently refurbished pool.

Denbigh Dragons made it four inter-towns gala victories in a row as they amassed a winning points total.

The Denbigh club then capped off this superb result by storming to first place in the canon event.

Denbigh Dragons head coach Justin Jones stated that this was “another fantastic performance from everyone”.

He added: “The strength and depth throughout Denbigh Dragons’ age groups is continuing to improve.”

He hopes to repeat the success at the next DDT inter-towns gala in January, which will be held in Rhyl.
