DANGEROUS Davies has been at it again!

Clwyd county ace Dave Davies picked up his third A-league individual title in as many years as the Denbigh and District Summer Darts League campaign came to a close with a fantastic finals evening at the Conservative Club.

Davies, playing under the banner of Railway A for the summer instead of his usual Masons A side, faced grizzled veteran Dilwyn Martin in what turned out to be one of the best singles finals in recent years to grace the stage.

It was Davies who edged in front with a steady 20-dart leg, before legs two and three were shared between the finalists in 15 darts apiece.

Showing the quality on offer, both hit a maximum in their winning visits.

Leg four saw Davies spurn opportunities to seal the deal as the Wingmen's Martin grabbed it in 20 arrows to take the final to a decider.

The fifth leg became a nervy affair, with Davies down to the double first, but he was unable to cash the cheque as he handed chances to his veteran opponent.

However, opportunities came and went for both players before Davies finally sank the winning double to scoop the title once more.

In what was a brilliant high-scoring final, Davies produced a 71.31 three-dart average, with the unlucky Martin posting 69.58.

The evening started with the top two A Division sides facing off in the nine-a-side cup.

There was sweet revenge for the Railway A outfit over the Wingmen, after having lost out in the league to their rivals.

Railway A recorded a 5-2 victory on the night, with Tom Brown hitting the winning double.

Fifteen-year-old Bradley Roberts, fresh from a last-32 placing at the BDO boys' World Masters in Grays, partnered Clwyd county darter Rachel Kingdon to mixed doubles glory with a routine 2-0 win over Dilwyn and Sarah Martin, posting a respectable 19.27 one-dart team average.

Masons A veterans Steve Gierke and Adie Thomas delighted the watching crowd with their amusing Steptoe & Son theme walk-on music, but they were no match for Sion Watsham and Deian Roberts in the men's doubles final.

In fact, the Wings A pairing posted one of the highest averages seen on the finals stage in many a year, with a 79.11 three-dart average in a 2-0 victory, completed in a total of 37 darts!

Young Golden Lion starlet Bradley Roberts continued his form on stage as he collected the men's B individual title with a competitive 3-1 victory over Steve Evans (Cons Club).

Fellow Goldie representative Vicky Langan scooped the ladies' individual title when she toppled reigning champion Charlie Walker-Williams 2-0.

The league would like to thank John and Mandy of the Conservative Club for their hospitality throughout the evening.
