A POSTWOMAN from Bala recently earned herself a silver medal at a prestigious swimming competition.
Katie Cranwell, ranked second in the 100m breaststroke event at the Masters National Swimming Competition held in Sheffield on October 26 and 27.
It was the first time in a decade that the 27-year-old, a former pupil of Ysgol Gordre’r Berwyn, had competed in a major event.
Katie, also a former member of the Wales swimming team, says she was “very pleased” to have earned herself a medal.
She is currently training on a regular basis ahead of future events and added: “I train around three times a week with Ruthin Swimming Club and at Bala Pool.
“I decided to get back into swimming for the fitness and joined the club as its getting too cold to practice in the lakes this time of year!”
Katie now hopes to crack the top three British spots as she sets herself some big goals for the future. She said: “That would get me into the World Championships in Japan. That’s a long way away yet, but it’s nice to set myself some targets."
