The Horseshoe Pass has been closed and motorists across North Wales have been warned to take extra care on the roads due to difficult weather conditions.

Snow has been falling in various parts of Wrexham today (Saturday), with the Met Office forecasting 'heavy snow' in the county until 2pm, followed by sleet from 3pm.

The Met Office has also warned of heavy snow in Llangollen until 2pm.

North Wales Police confirmed just after 11.30am that the Horseshoe Pass had been closed due to "hazardous weather conditions".

A police spokesman said: "Please abide by any diversions and signage in place."

The conditions are also expected in Flintshire, with heavy snow forecast in Mold until 1pm, followed by lighter snow until 3pm.

Traffic Wales has urged drivers to be careful, with a spokesman stating: "Weather conditions are changing quickly on the network .

"Please drive with care today.
