READERS have shared their wintery snaps after snow fell across North Wales.

The Met Office warned of potential heavy snow across parts of Wrexham, Flintshire and Denbighshire over the weekend.

On Saturday morning, police confirmed The Horseshoe Pass had been closed due to the "hazardous weather conditions" and motorists across North Wales were warned to take extra care on the roads by Traffic Wales.

Many readers took to the Leader's Facebook page to show how the weather affected their areas.

Mike Griffiths, a qualified mountain leader and outdoor activities leader, said he was at the Horseshoe Pass on Friday when it was "sunny, clear and calm" and then on Saturday when there was heavy snow.

Describing the scene on Saturday, he said: "I was with my wife and young daughters. Feeling rather house-bound we decided to take a drive (in my 4x4 truck) up from the Llandegla side to The Ponderosa to see if there were any opportunities for sledging.

"The snow was falling much harder and although it was being blown sideways it was starting to settle.

"We decided to continue down to Llangollen but as we started to descend (very slowly and cautiously with the two girls on board) the car slipped a couple of times.

"This was crawling in third gear at no more than 20 mph. I decided it would be prudent to turn around before the sharper bends and steeper sections, so turned around by the big layby.

"By The Ponderosa there was a snow-plough coming in the opposite direction.

"Cars that had been parked by The Ponderosa were now following it, suggesting that they'd been unwilling or unable to continue their journey otherwise.

"We descended cautiously on the Llandegla side and returned home."
