REMEMBRANCE Services were held across the county on Sunday morning.

Every November we remember the wars in our history and the bravery of those who fought in them by wearing poppies and holding a minute or two-minute silence as a mark of respect on Remembrance Day - which this time fell on Monday. .

Last year’s events marked the centenary year of the end of the First World War.

There was a very good turnout in Denbigh, where local gathered to pay their respects to the fallen servicemen and women of the country.

A British Royal Legion service of remembrance was held at The Angel in the town’s Crown Square for 10.30am. Locals laid wreaths in honour of the fallen and a parade also marched through the town to mark the occasion.

The Town Council had put wreath bearers together during the service in a designated zone.

A similar event to pay respects was held in nearby Ruthin. A Service of Remembrance took place from 10.30am at the War Memorial in Wynnstay Road.

Darren Millar AM, who attended the ceremony, said: “I laid a wreath and attended a moving act of Remembrance at Ruthin War Memorial this morning.

“It was good to see so many there to honour our heroes.”

Anne Roberts, Ruthin town councillor and chair of the Ruthin & District Civic Association added:

“Hundreds of people attended and it was pleasing to see so many young people taking part in the service.”
