PROFESSOR Glyn Hewinson, of the bovine TB Centre of Excellence at Aberystwyth University, will be the guest speaker at the annual Clwyd NFU Cymru county conference.

Held on Wednesday, December 4 at Llysfasi Conference Centre, near Ruthin, Prof Hewinson will be joined by NFU Cymru deputy president Aled Jones, who will give an update on the work the union is currently undertaking.

Hot beef rolls will be served from 7pm, with the meeting beginning at 7.30pm.

Prof Hewinson was the lead TB scientist at APHA where he was responsible for all scientific aspects of bovine TB before joining the university.

He has also spent time as the chief scientist of the Animal Health and Veterinary Laboratories Agency, where he led a multidisciplinary team involved in the development of TB vaccines for badgers and cattle.

Paul Williams, NFU Cymru Clwyd county chairman, said: “I’d like to thank Prof Hewinson for agreeing to come along and speak with us.

"Bovine TB is something that affects most farmers in some way or another so I am really looking forward to hearing what he has to say.

"I’d also like to thank our deputy president Aled Jones for taking the time to come along.

"Everyone is welcome so please come along and bring your friends and neighbours.

"I look forward to seeing you all there.”

NFU Cymru would like to thank HSBC for its continued support in sponsoring all 11 of the county conferences.
