HISTORY has been made at Denbigh Golf Club.

At last Monday’s special general meeting - and for the first time in the history of the club - a brother and sister were elected as the gents' and ladies' captains.

Fred Jones and sister Nest Houghton will lead the club in 2020.

Both have been dedicated servants of Denbigh Golf Club over many years.

Also appointed this week was Jenny Jones as the club president.

She is a well-known golfer throughout the county and North Wales and she is a well deserving recipient.

Elected as vice-captains for the forthcoming year were Kevin Lyden and Val Fletcher.

All are being wished every success in their respective roles.

Meanwhile, it has been an excellent couple of weeks out on the course for Marc Shaw.

A haul of 45 points was enough to give Shaw victory during week four of Denbigh Golf Club's winter league.

The following week saw Shaw score 36 points to win the silver division.

There were only 69 entries during the week, with heavy rain, frost and fog affecting numbers.
