A YOUNG at heart Llanfairfechan great great gran has celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by her family and a dance.

Members of Ina Davies’s family travelled from as far afield as Australia as well as Kent, London, Scotland and Wales to mark her special day on Friday, December 6. A party was held for her at the Split Willow in Llanfairfechan.

Mrs Davies, who is a former Nat West Bank cashier, was born in Newcastle and lived in London before moving to North Wales 30 years ago.

She had four daughters, surviving two of them, has 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and seven great, GREAT grandchildren!

During her life, she had three husbands, surviving them all. She met her last husband Emlyn in her 70’s and they married in Canada.

Mrs Davies moved to Wales be near to her sister and granddaughter Christine, who had married Steven Jones a Llanfairfechan lad, both have since passed away.

Now their children, her great grandchildren, Michael, Paul and David Jones help her with her daily household chores and shopping .

Her granddaughter Sandra Fox said: “Nan regularly calls her two daughters Carol and Jacky to make sure all is well. She never stops being a mum, even though she is now 100!

“She never forgets anyone’s birthday and she still lives independently! She is amazing. She was up dancing at her 99th birthday and again at her 100th birthday too!”

“Nan had a fantastic time and got very emotional seeing all her family together.”

Mrs Davies puts the secret to her youthful long life down to holidays, travelling the world and dancing! Also, bringing up her daughters, then helping to bring up her three great grandsons when they lost their mum.

Mrs Davies also keeps her mind busy and enjoys bingo and weekly magazines where she does the competitions - and often wins!

“It was a fantastic evening at The Split Willow, the owners did a lovely job, nothing was too much trouble and a very memorable evening was had by all.”

Mayor of Llanfairfechan Cllr Delohne Merrell said “It was a very real pleasure to meet Mrs Davies.

“She is such an amazing person, so lively and so interesting to talk and with an amazing family. “
