DENBIGH Dragons swimmers have once again performed to the highest standard on the biggest stage.
Six swimmers travelled down to Swansea for the Swim Wales national championships and they returned with 13 personal best times from 18 events. Dragons lined up on the same blocks as national standard and Commonwealth Games swimmers in a showcase of the finest of Welsh talent.
Sian Evans, Anya Dolan, Ellie Hughes, Jessica Lloyd, Freya Thapa and Dafydd Jones swam hard against the toughest of competition, having earned the right to travel to the national swimming centre by achieving qualification times over the last few months.
This afforded them the opportunity to enjoy this priceless experience and build confidence in such rarefied company.
This weekend saw the third iteration of the Denbigh Dragons winter club championships.
Head coach Justin Jones was pleased to bring together 66 swimmers to race their friends and peers in a series of age matched events.
This massive turnout of swimmers was matched only by the enthusiasm of their parents and supporters as they cheered each athlete on to glory.
Medals and prizes will be handed out to successful swimmers at next week’s winter party, to take place at Denbigh Rugby Club.
