THE Co-op store in Bala has raised £620 to support a Bala Town footballer diagnosed with cancer.
In August, Lakesiders midfielder Danny Gosset was told he had Non-Hogkins Lymphoma. Since then, the 25-year-old has been undergoing chemotherapy in the hope that it will shrink the tumour.
Gosset, who runs a barber shop in Port Dinorwic, is a well-respected figure on the Welsh football scene.
Ahead of Bala's eventual 4-0 Cymru Premier win over Penybont on Tuesday evening, staff from the Co-op store met up with Danny to hand over a cheque for £530.
In October, staff at the store, located on the High Street, decided to set up a raffle (£1 for each ticket) with a hamper full of goodies as the prize.
In addition to this, a bonus ball has been running for the last month with an extra £100 raised by Iola.
A spokesperson for Co-op Bala said: "A total of £620 has been raised for Danny and we are extremely grateful to all that have donated and supported with the fundraising."
