I HOPE you have a Happy Christmas and I send my very best wishes for the New Year. It is a great honour to have been elected as the Member of Parliament for Clwyd South and, during the recent Christmas events I have attended in the constituency, I have seen the strength and kindness of our communities. At Christmas we enjoy time with family and friends but it is also important to remember those who are on their own or working over the Christmas period in, for instance, the health service, the armed forces or in charities to help others.

Simon Baynes, Clwyd South MP

MANY of us will be swept up in the hype, excitement and high expectations of Christmas this week.

And whilst some of us revel in the hustle and bustle, for some this time of year is difficult.

There are many reasons why the festive season can cause stress, anxiety and depression.

Too high expectations placed on ourselves - have I got the right presents, have I got enough presents, will the turkey cook in time, will the relatives all get on and have we got enough of everything?

Cue panic and stress.

Or, maybe, there is nobody to share the joy of Christmas with.

Loneliness is not uncommon and the feeling of isolation might be felt even stronger than usual this week.

I do hope that this Christmas is a merry one for you, but please remember that if it all gets too much - there are people who can help, even on Christmas Day.

Glyn Roberts, FUW president
