A woman who died following a one-vehicle collision on the A5 in Pentrefoelas on Saturday night has been named.

Singer-songwriter Margaret Edwards, 74, known for being the conductor of the Côr Bro Gwerfyl choir, came from the Betws Gwerfil Goch area.

Her family have paid tribute to a 'devoted mother' and 'loving grandmother'.

In a statement, they said: "A devoted mother to Elin, Leisa and Tudur and a proud and loving Grandmother to nine grandchildren, Margaret Edwards’ contribution to her community, to education and music was invaluable.

“A devoted mother to Elin, Leisa and Tudur and a proud and loving grandmother to nine grandchildren, Margaret Edwards’ contribution to her community, to education and music was invaluable.

"As a singer songwriter, Côr Bro Gwerfyl’s conductor and the translator of the well-known song ‘Un dydd ar y tro’, she will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all.”

Police continue to appeal for witnesses to the collision which occurred on the A5 on Saturday December 28 and involved a silver coloured Toyota Rav 4.

Sergeant Anja Macleod of the Roads Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Margaret Edwards at this incredibly difficult time.

“We continue to appeal to anybody who may have been travelling along the A5 at around 9:20pm to come forward.”
