POLICE have appealed for information after a flock of sheep was stolen from Trefnant farmland over Christmas.

North Wales Police said it is investigating the incident in which 53 Texel cross mules were taken from land opposite Trefnant golf course during December 13 to 31.

Police suspect the sheep were stolen in three raids.

A North Wales Police spokesperson said: "Officers have issued an appeal for information after sheep were stolen from land in Denbighshire.

"The Texel cross/mules are aged three and four-years-old and police believe they have been taken in three collections.

"Most of the sheep have two red tags in their ears, and have the tag number UK705644."

It is one of numerous sheep thefts in Denbighshire in 2019, which included 63 sheep stolen from a farm in Tremeirchion in April and another 20 from Bylchau farmland in June.

The police spokesperson added: "If anybody has any information or has seen anything suspicious please contact PC 1535 Heledd Wynne-Evans of the Rural Crime Team on 101 or via the live web quoting reference number 20000006736."
