A WELSH folk singer and former Plaid Cymru president has climbed to the top of the iTunes UK song charts.
Dafydd Iwan, who spent most of his childhood living in Bala, has beat the likes of Stormzy, Tones and I and The Weekend to the top spot.
Despite his song 'Yma O Hyd' (Still Here) originally being released in 1983, a campaign by independence movement YesCymru has seen it rise through the charts once more, before reaching the top on Sunday.
The track declares that the Welsh nation has survived "in spite of everyone and everything" - along with the Welsh language.
The campaign was inspired by another successful attempt in Ireland, which saw Irish rebel song "Come out Ye Black and Tans" rise to the top of their chart.
Mr Iwan has been performing for more than 50 years and is also a former president of Plaid Cymru.
The 76-year-old took to Twitter to celebrate his incredible chart-climb saying: "Thank you very much everyone. Independence Forever! Maybe now I can retire..."
Mr Iwan performed a memorable rendition of 'Yma O Hyd' at a Yes Cymru independence march in Caernarfon in July 2019,
