IT HAS taken two years but there’s good news for users of public transport as a new bus shelter is set to be installed in Prestatyn.

Following ‘lengthy discussions’, the bus shelter will be installed on the North end - (East side) - of Ceg y Ffordd between Wednesday, January 22 and Friday, January 24.

Cllr Paul Penlington, of Prestatyn North ward, said: “It has taken two years of consultation with residents and discussion with Denbighshire County Council and Prestatyn Town Council to finally get this done.

“In my opinion, what was straightforward request, has taken far too long to achieve but at last residents will have some shelter.

“This shelter is in an area where many retired residents live, many of them rely on the bus service.

“You’d have thought having a bit of shelter from the weather wasn’t too much to ask.

“It should be in place by the end of January. I’ll be keeping an eye on it to make sure it is.”

A spokesman for Denbighshire County Council said: “Following negotiations with Prestatyn Town Council and consultation with residents, agreement was reached on the plans. These new bus shelters will be installed by the end of the month.

"The shelters will be welcomed by local residents and enhance the service in the area."
