THE darting talents of David Davies shone through over the Christmas period as the Denbigh and District League enjoyed a break with a spot of knockout action.

It was a debut outing for the newly-formed Festive Cup, with cash prizes and the new inaugurated annual trophies on offer for both competitions.

The ladies' event saw a low turnout, with the impressive Ceirian Prysor (Golden Lion C) defeated team mate Claire Davies 2-0 in the final.

The men's event attracted a bumper 32 entries, with current Clwyd county ace Dave Davies dominating all before him via a ruthless evening of arrows as he collected the title without losing a leg.

On his route to the final, he defeated Huw Watson, Rob Jones and Ian Jones in the quarters, before ending Pryderi Rowlands great night in the last-four.

Old adversary Deian Roberts was to be his final opponent, with both having locked horns in numerous finals in the last few years.

However, once again it was Davies who overpowered his Gwynedd county rival with a comprehensive 3-0 victory on this occasion.

The first week of league action after the winter break saw reigning champions Masons A lose again.

Railway A defeated them 5-3 to go to the top of the standings.

Masons man Dave Davies supplied his usual darting wizardry with 18 and 15 dart legs, plus a 104 checkout, with Eifion Hughes adding the only maximum of the evening.

Wings A have yet to record a victory this winter as they were humbled 5-3 by Masons B, who enjoyed one of their finest victories in recent campaigns.

Despite the loss, Wings player Deian Roberts was in fine form with 17 and 19 dart legs in his triumph.

Golden Lion A concluded the A-league action with a routine 6-2 victory over Wings B 6-2.
