FIREFIGHTERS were called to a fire at a restaurant in Ruthin town centre on Wednesday.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service (NWFRS) said it sent two crews to St Peter's Square just before 12.30pm.

It is understood the restaurant was the Myddelton Grill on the Square.

It said the fire was caused "accidentally" in the kitchen.

An NWFRS spokesperson said: "We were called to St Peter's Square in Ruthin at 14.28pm on Wednesday, January 15.

"We sent two crews from Ruthin and Denbigh. The fire was started accidentally in the kitchen.

"Thermal imaging equipment and a hose reel was used.

"The fire was stopped at 15.07pm."
