A LEADING civil engineering firm will remain part of a multi-million-pound waste management and landfill framework for a further 12 months.

Ruthin-based Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK originally secured a place on the framework in 2018, and FCC Environment has taken up the option to add on an extra year.

The framework is worth up to £15 million per year and covers the UK.

Jones Bros has carried out several waste management projects for FCC during a highly successful nine-year relationship and has so far completed work worth up to £12 million in 2019.

Dafydd Elis, senior contracts manager at Jones Bros, said: “It’s been a very good year as we’ve delivered the work as promised.

"For FCC to action the optional 12 months illustrates that its team is very happy with our progress so far.

“We’re excited to continue our partnership with FCC and look forward to working on more waste management and landfill schemes across the UK in 2020.”

During the almost decade-long partnership, the civil engineering contractor has worked on key landfill contracts with FCC including Bletchley, Calvert, and Sutton Courtenay landfills.

Jones Bros has also successfully delivered major infrastructure contracts for FCC, including the £6.7m A41 Greatmoor access road; £3.6m High Heavens transfer station and £7.2m Wrexham Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) plant.

Mr Elis added: “Jones Bros has a strong reputation for high-quality waste remediation works, and all the activity is completed by our expert in-house delivery team.

“There will be more than 100 people on site at peak times, with 15 per cent of them being apprentices and trainees.

“We are typically operational at up to 10 FCC sites at any one time, and this covers the length and breadth of the UK.”

Chris Ellis, operations director at FCC Environment, said: “We are pleased to continue this positive working partnership with Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK.

"Since awarding them the contract in 2018, Jones Bros have been collaborative and effective partners which is vital to us as one of the UK’s leading resource and waste management businesses in delivering service excellence to our customers.”
