A HOLYHEAD-BASED school had received £500 as a result of a bursary fund set up in honour of one of the Town's much-loved residents who died in 2018.

John Cave MBE was an acknowledged historian and photographer who had recorded several of the town's significant events and occasions over many years.

He had also served as the president of the Holyhead Maritime Museum who, following Mr Cave's death in June 2018, set up a memorial bursary fund in his name.

Over the last year, the museum has organised a number of fund raising events, including a Memorial Dinner, generously supported by donations from many local companies and organisations.

As a result of this, Ysgol Uwchradd Caergybi recently received £500. Museum representatives were pleased to present a cheque to headteacher Adam Williams.

With the support of the community, the museum now intends to maintain this level of support for "years to come".

Mr Cave also had a considerable interest in education, being a School Governor for many years. He was always keen to encourage younger members of the community to take an interest in local history.
