THE first weeks of January are busy as people get back to work after the Christmas period, and no less for the four-legged police that patrol North Wales.
North Wales and Cheshire Police’s dog unit has been donated a box-full of dog treats from a member of the public.
There are currently 19 dogs within the dog section and are trained to track suspects, search open areas and buildings, trace recently discarded items of property and detain suspects. There are also specialist search dogs that detect firearms and ammunition, cash and drugs that officers might otherwise not be able to find.
A Cheshire and North Wales Police Dogs spokesman said: “PD Seren got to choose a yummy treat after one of our handlers received a lovely gift from a kind member of public as a thank you for the great work our K9 teams carry out on a daily basis.”
