SATURDAY night was alright for winning for a number of Denbigh Harriers.

The club's annual dinner and awards event took place at the Brookhouse Mill, Denbigh.

With a record attendance, the evening was superbly organised by Dianne Roberts and Mari Jones.

There were presentations for the Noel Morris Memorial Handicap series, which was won by Tony Wood, who showed consistent improvement throughout the eight races.

Second was Tony Benton, who was still in with a chance of winning until the last and deciding race.

In third spot was Tracey Williams in her comeback season.

The fastest woman over the course was Emma Collins in 22.19 and the fastest man was Tony Wood in 19.21.

Prizes were also awarded for the Johnson’s handicap to the winner David Spencer and Emma Collins, as the first woman.

There was also a presentation of the Alison Baugh Trophy to the person who has contributed the most to the club in the past year, whether it be by racing or running, or through administration / organisation, or promotion of the club.

This year, the award was won in a vote by club members by Ian Jones.

Ian won the award for his support of runners progressing from the club’s Run for Fun programme to competition.

He has led training runs, paced runners in races and prepared a group of runners to compete in the Fairy Freckled Cow Trail race.

It is no surprise, therefore, that he is often called 'Mr Motivator'!

A handful of Denbigh Harriers were in action in a number of parkruns over the weekend.

Kingston parkrun: 211, Sian Pritchard 27.51.

Conwy parkrun: 183, Gwenno Edwards 30.02.
